>What’s the deal?
First things first. I’m a closeted queer woman of color (Chinese) living in a conservative Muslim majority country, called Malaysia. More specifically, I live in East Malaysia. I am currently in a relationship with my wonderful girlfriend, who is living in the US but I will keep her identity secret for now since I don’t want to out her against her will (those of you who do know who she is, keep quiet for now as well, please).
As you probably already have guessed, Malaysia is a dangerous place for people who identify as queer. There is a sodomy law which is still in place to this day; LGBT Muslims face especially harsh penalties, which the government wants to worsen; there has been a gay cure camp; a MP has called for the government to open a “gay rehab” centre; funding for reparative therapy has started… all this is just the tip of the iceberg.
I did a little googling, and maybe this site could be helpful, or at least a little reassuring (sorry if you already know about it): http://tiltedworld.org/
I really wish you the best of luck

And to anyone who says this may be untrue, I live in Malaysia and have been living for over 3 years now…and let me tell...
